CFCO has set a new goal. It is to deliver St. Charles County a very special present: The Devine Liberty Swing. This very special Liberty Swing is a state of the art playground swing that locks wheelchairs into the swing and allows children and adults with disabilities
to soar high into the air without the trouble of leaving their chair! No longer will St. Charles County handicapped children have to sit on the sidelines and watch while their brothers and sisters play. There is only one other Liberty Swing in Missouri and only about a dozen in the United States! The swing will be installed in Cottleville's new city park adjacent to the existing traditional swings. Our fundraising goal for the Divine Liberty Swing is $35,000. This will cover the cost to purchase, assemble and install the swing. You can help take part in bringing a Liberty Swing to Cottleville by donating to this cause. Your donation will be used exclusively in the purchase and setup of the swing. Please visit www.libertyswing.com.au to watch a video, see pictures and read more about the Devine Liberty Swing. Thanks for your Support! Fire Prevention and public safety in the home is one of the biggest concerns of all fire protection districts and departments around the country. Cottleville Fire Protection District has many programs designed to keep our citizens safe in their homes. The Cottleville Fire Protection District is proud to offer a program to make sure every home in our fire protection district has working smoke detectors. This program is designed for residents of the Cottleville Fire Protection District. We will provide free battery operated smoke detectors for those who cannot afford them. We will also test and replace batteries as needed and instruct residents on their maintenance. * If you rent your home and the smoke detectors do not work or are not present, Contact the Cottleville Fire Protection District. 636-447-6655 * If you own your home and are unable to purchase a smoke detector, Contact the Cottleville Fire Protection District. 636-447-6655 Firefighters will install a properly located, battery operated smoke detector at no charge. Smoke Detectors are indispensable tools for life safety but they require proper installation and maintenance. Location is critical. Caring for smoke detectors is a quick and easy task. Check the following recommendations or contact the Cottleville Fire Protection District for any questions. * Roughly ½ of home fire deaths result from fires in the small percentage of homes with no smoke alarms. * Homes with smoke alarms (whether or not they are operational) typically have a death rate that is 40-50% less than the rate for homes without alarms.

Cottleville Firefighters Community Outreach (CFCO) would like to announce that we are launching a new program to help victims of house fires in our community. Our new “Threads of Care” program will collect used or new clothes and shoes that will be given to families that lose their clothing in a fire.
The collected clothes will be sorted by age and gender and stored in ready to use totes at the firehouse. It is our goal to accumulate a large inventory of clothes for children of all ages and adults of all sizes. To accomplish this goal, we will need assistance from area businesses and residents. We will be accepting donations of unwanted clothes and/or shoes that are unstained and in good condition. We will also be seeking to setup donation drop-off locations at area businesses. If you would like to donate clothes and/or shoes or setup a drop-off location, please contact the program director, Cathy Elsea at 636-290-5262. It is the mission of CFCO to provide whatever is needed to promote recovery and to minimize the tremendous burden that is left upon families after a house fire. “Threads of Care” will greatly assist us in the achievement of our mission. Any and all support will be greatly appreciated.
